Substrate

We currently offer photo paper (info on paper is available if you select paper), as well as other substrates such as:

  • Cardstock - Very much like posterboard
  • Sintra - A light-weight yet rigid plastic material used for signs and displays. It is similar to PVC.
  • Coroplast - A corrugated plastic signage material.
  • Foamcore - Standard glossy both-sides with foam sandwiched in between.

Please contact us if you don't see what you need.

Paper

Our posters are printed on 8 pt. photo paper.  Please note that lower quantities are produced using a digital photographic method, and an equivalent digital stock will be utililized.

Paper Finish

Please choose the type of paper finish you desire. Paper finishes are similar to house paint.

  • Gloss - Has a glossy sheen to it.
  • Matte - Think of this as a flat paint finish - it will have a slightly 'fuzzy' texture.

Front Color

The number of printing colors your art utilizes to print the top or front of your poster. Please specify this here.

Further information on Color:

In offset lithography (printing on the most common printing press), full color and 4-color are interchangeable terms. Full color being color photos such as in photography. It represents the four primary printing colors, Cyan (C), Magenta (M), Yellow (Y) and Black/Key (K) – or CMYK or process. Please note that on your computer screen and in most computer programs, your art is likely in RGB color space (Red, Green, Blue). It is imperative that you convert it to CMYK and understand the color shift that will occur in doing so. CMYK cannot reproduce RGB exactly the same.

Other color combinations normally utilize the Pantone (www.pantone.com) color system (PMS). In this scenario, a 2-color job could be Black (K) + a PMS color (numbered). Colors are denoted for each side of a printed piece, so 4/0 is four color on one side, blank on the back. 4/4 is four color on both sides. 4/2 is four color on the front, and 2 colors on the back, etc. It is possible to produce more than 4 colors with certain printed items. For instance in a 6/4 job, you can print 4-color process plus two PMS colors if you have specific corporate colors you want to hit on one side and regular 4-color on the back.

Back Color

The number of printing colors your art utilizes to print the bottom or back of your poster. Please specify this here.

Bleed

If your printed piece has art that extends beyond the edge it is a bleed.

Anything that needs to bleed off the page, should be set up with an additional 1/8 inch on any side that bleeds. For example, an 8.5x11 inch page that bleeds should have artwork provided at 8.75x11.25, with the extra 1/8th inch on each side being trimmed off. You should keep your live area 1/8th inch INSIDE the final TRIM size for a safety zone.

Folds

All of our posters ship with no folds.

Coating

We can offer Aqueous and UV coatings on some of our traditional offset products. We offer this free of charge.

Not all products can have coating - if a product you order can't be coated, we will alert you.

Digital products are produced on very glossy substrate and for the most part cannot have coatings applied. If you select coating on an item that is produced digitally (under approx 100 qty) it will be very high-quality gloss, but may not have a UV or Aqueous coating on it even if you've specified it.

Aqueous – Aqueous is a water-based coating that will not seep into the press sheet and can be applied on press. It provides a high-gloss protective surface.

UV – UV liquid that is applied with offline or additional in-line equipment. It provides a very deep/thick high-gloss protective surface. UV makes colors pop and adds depth to a printed piece.

Spot Aqueous – Aqueous coating applied in a specific area for effect. Your file must have the Spot Aqueous set up as a color. Please contact us if you need advice on setting this up.

OA Aqueous – Overall Aqueous – Aqueous coating over the top or front of the printed piece.

Proofing

Our standard proofing option is a digital PDF which will be made available to you instantly after your purchase and successful upload of your file into our file check/upload system.
